Beaches
With 14 kilometers of sandy beaches and a population of 2000 people , Kardamena is offering much more than just the sea and sun provided by most resorts. Be aware that the main beach in Kardamena is ideal for lazy days in the sun as well as for watersports lovers and not only , who can practise their favourite water sports. Kardamena Beach , can be found in the village of the same name, this beautiful 3km long beach can get crowded, but keep walking and it thins out dramatically. Enjoy the safe swimming and get a tan that will make everyone jealous!
Also practise everything from pedalos to jet skiing and banana rides that can be organised. Also visit Banana Beach and Sovereign Beach if you wish to practise your favourite water sports and enjoy the stunning sun and the amazing crystal clear blue waters.
Sightseeing
There are fascinating historical sites scattered around the island, particularly in the capital Kos Town, 40 minutes away. Be aware that boat tours can be arranged to the spectacular volcanic island of Nisyros and to Rhodes Also the archaeological Museum , in Kos Town, is a museum that has an extensive collection found in the many sites around the island including statues, mosaics and ceramics.
Visit the Roman Ruins which is a large area in various states of preservation encompassing three temples, that of Aphrodite, Hercules and Dionysus, a theatre, pool and gym . Enjoy a lovely stroll back in time and of course visit the famous castle .The history of which is dated back in 1495 when an earthquake destroyed the castle that was built by the Knights of St John as a hospital. It was rebuilt about 100 years later as a fortress to withstand Ottoman raids.
